Cyclic Tales

Esta instalación está compuesta por seis películas que narran sensaciones provenientes de la ansiedad consciente; diferentes elementos interactúan en bucle sobre mi cuerpo a modo de mantra. La instalación recrea un ambiente cotidiano pero inhóspito al mismo tiempo, recordando este estado de ánimo con el que convivimos pero que no nos pertenece.
La performance duracional que acompaña la instalación, expone la añoranza y los miedos sociales que genera mi nueva edad. Éstos miedos, provocadores de ansiedad, anteceden un futuro aún por descubrir en relación al papel que debería tener a mis 35 años como mujer y como artista.
Las manzanas con las que interactúo me confrontan con la feminidad y a través de ellas viajo por diferentes universos imaginarios e improvisados. El viaje despierta diversos estados de ánimo provocados por las connotaciones narrativas y simbólicas de la manzanas, por el encuentro sensorial con las mismas, por el movimiento por el espacio y por la presencia y el juego de seducción e interacción con el espectador. Durante la acción y, gracias a estos elementos, se van generando imágenes repetitivas que nos conectan con arquetipos femeninos provenientes de la mitología, la literatura y el cine.
The six films projected in the video-installation are part of a collection of images linked by feelings of conscious anxiety. Different elements interact in a loop, like a mantra, inside my body. The video-installation emulates a routinely, and simultaneously, an inhospitable environment. This atmosphere recalls a mood of anxiety we recognize but it doesn’t belong to us.
A durational performance escorts the video-installation, which exposes nostalgia and the social fears generated by my age (35 years old). These fears cause predisposed anxiety for a future yet to be discovered, because of my role as a woman and as an artist.
During the performance, I enter a journey where I travel through improvised and imaginary universes, while using green apples, elements that invite me to confront femininity. This action awakens different moods provoked by the symbolism and narrative connotations of the apples, such as by the sensory encounter with them, by the movement around the space, and by the presence, plays of seduction and the interaction with the audience. The conjunction of all these elements generate repetitive images that connect us with feminine archetypes from mythology, literature, and cinema.
